What I’m Thankful For

W

It’s Thanksgiving Day.

…and instead of writing today’s TTT a day early so I can enjoy Thanksgiving morning without “working”, I’m in bed on my iPad and wireless keyboard thinking of what I am thankful for…

I have my faith and my health. Both give me strength.

Both my parents are alive, together, and live not too far from me – about 22 miles.

I live in a great area. It’s safe, quaint, and extremely convenient. Virtually everything I need is within four blocks: my office, Trader Joe’s, and many fine restaurants.

Since I work out of my home, office, and many of the restaurants and coffee shops nearby, I’ve met a lot of locals and enjoy interacting with them daily.

I have a nice home and although I don’t see myself as materialistic, I could buy virtually anything I want; more importantly, I can afford being generous to others and I’m thankful for that.

I have Taylor and Makiah in my life and although it’s been an adjustment and difficult at times, I’m thankful for the challenge and growth that continues to occur as a result. I know they are one of my life’s blessings.

I have a business that I enjoy and a loyal and trustworthy staff and team that provide me the freedom and time to focus on my unique abilities and clients who seem to appreciate who I am.

In spite of a two or three major disappointments and a few irreversible regrets, I have so much to be thankful for. So much, that I should be a whole lot happier than I usually am and when I am happy, I don’t show it enough…. and for that, shame on me.

I feel guilty about that often. It’s something I’m working on.

…But as my friend of close to 40 years Jimmy Gurele (who knows me and my life well) says, “Its Imperfection IS Perfection.”

I agree and that is why even if I could, I would not change a thing about myself, about others, or about my life.

I’m thankful for imperfection.

Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
