“How Can I Manage Practice Stress?”

&

Succeeding in practice is an inside job — a total mind game.

It’s where you are your best friend and biggest enemy.

It’s where practices succeed and where practices fail.

Successful  practitioners live and stay in the present. They operate in the now.

The don’t dwell on past wins, losses, successes, or failures.
They realize that the past is virtually meaningless.
They define themselves by who they are and what they do… now.

Struggling D.C.s have every reason in the book why “it’s” not for them, why “it” won’t work in their town and/or office, and
why they just don’t have enough time, money, youth, etc.

Struggling D.C.s say ‘no” more than “yes” and are skeptical by nature.

Living in the present makes everything better.

Here are some ways that I stay in the moment and as a result, work and live practically stress-free, REGARDLESS of the circumstances:

  1. I don’t let myself get distracted or interrupted by anything or anyone.
  2. I don’t “multi-task”… with my mind or body.
  3. The night before, I plan each day and each day, I get at least one important thing done both personally and professionally (for my health, relationships, ChiroTrust, The Committee, and ReliefAssist). Virtually nothing of importance gets ignored.
  4. My general attitude about life and business is one of gratitude and that everything will be okay. Every experience is a lesson that can propel me forward and all I need to do is pay attention, think, and execute.
  5. I’m here to serve others. The quickest way to stress and anxiety is to be self-focused and self-absorbed. The more value you provide others and more often you do it, the more successful you will be. (Collectively, to succeed, they must value you more than you value you.)
  6. I don’t let just anyone get into my head or into my life.
  7. I now pay attention to my breathing and my actions. To the best of my ability, I try to breath and move slowly. (This is a new one for me!)
  8. There is no finish line or race to a finish line. I’m not in business to achieve anything more than a productive and enjoyable  “ win-win” day. I have no plans on ever retiring. (This makes living a balanced life — day in and day out — a whole lot easier. Today is my life.)
  9. 7 days a week, I make the time for proper rest, diet, and exercise.
  10. I read a book a day. Readers are leaders. School is never out for the pro.

If you want to feel good, live in the present,
think about the present,
and stay in a state of momentum.

…Always moving forward.
