Chiropractic Marketing and Accurate Thinking

C

Today’s Chiropractic Marketing Tip is all about “Accurate Thinking”.

Accurate Thinking is a term I learned from an old friend named Jeff Paul. It has to do with making the most out of opportunities by working with things as they are and not as you necessarily think that they should be.

Just by asking yourself, “Am I thinking accurately about this?” can possibly alter your view or reaction to things. Thinking accurately is the only way to optimize results with the least amount of grief.

So if you are struggling with something, it would serve you well to assume that you may not be thinking accurately about it. Your expectations may not be realistic.

Instead of working with what is, you are self imposing how things, situations, or people should be. For example, recently I had a discussion with a close friend and PBA member. He owns his office but doesn’t do the treating. As a matter of fact, he only goes into his office every couple months or so.

For years, he’s been attempting to grow the practice but has struggled finding the right doctor to deliver the goods.

Basically, he expects things to be a certain way but isn’t willing to do what it takes himself to directly impact the outcome.

So our conversation went around and around as to why things are the way they are. I patiently listened as he expressed how he was going to tweak procedures and policies AGAIN.  He was not thinking accurately.

At the end of the conversation I believe he came up with a solution that made sense. A solution that was congruent with living a balanced life free of all the challenges that he originally invented for himself.

Without thinking accurately, we as humans operate from faulty information and assumptions.

How do you think accurately?  Here are a few tips:

1.    Focus on facts, not opinions.
2.    Talk about it with successful people you can trust and who have your back.
3.    Accept human nature as it is, not as you think it should be and blame no one.
4.    Question your assumptions.
5.    Don’t sweat the small stuff.
6.    Get out of your head. Most solutions come between thoughts. Meditate, pray, exercise, rest.
7.    Don’t take things so seriously.
8.    Search for uncomplicated, elegant solutions to other people’s problems.

Thinking accurately gets easier over time.  It takes focus, dedication, and practice!
