Building a practice can be super easy or nearly impossible.
…and you get to choose.
Want to make it easy?
Assume that nobody cares about Chiropractic or you.
Nobody cares about:
- How Chiropractic first came into being
- Chiropractic philosophy
- Chiropractic research
- How long you’ve been in practice
- Your post graduate studies or certification
- How exciting your weekend seminar was
- How many bills you have
- How much money you need to make
- How long you’ve struggled
- How successful you used to be
- How many kids you need to put through college
Now, I said that you should “assume” that this is the case.
Of course, what people are interested in varies but if you want to do well in practice, it would best serve you to assume that nobody cares about anyone but themselves.
Again, not saying that this is 100% accurate but if you assume that and build your practice around that assumption, things will go a heck of a lot easier for you.
Now, here’s how to make it nearly impossible…
- Be impatient
- Coast
- Do everything yourself
- Whine, blame, and make excuses
- Be an average Chiropractor with average skills
- Over-treat and overcharge
- “Sell” Chiropractic
- Think that you know it all and have done it all
- Be skeptical and cheap
Since patients care about themselves, wouldn’t it be worth your time to think about what that means?
What do they want?
What do they fear?
What have they been told?
Nothing is more valuable than simplicity, yet it is the hardest thing to achieve and should be a lifelong pursuit.
Nothing costs less than common sense but not using it is the most expensive lesson you’ll ever receive.
…and if you aren’t building and maintaining relationships, nothing you are doing or thinking about regarding your practice matters to anyone.
