Yesterday, a new member contacted us and said that after 3 months, his new patient stats have not gone up. As a matter of fact, they went down a little.

Knowing how to diagnose these situations, I had my staff schedule a call with him.

It took me less than 10 minutes to figure out why, but well over an hour to explain it to him and his wife.

Why that long?

Not because they disagreed or sounded resistant to change…but because I really felt for the guy. He’s been practicing for 38 years, collecting about 18k a month with overhead at around 12k.

Other facts…

Although his practice was located in an area with home values of approx. 150k, he was charging $180-$220 for first visits and approx. $50 for subsequent visits. – BOTH TOO HIGH

He said each patient is in his office approx. one hour on “day 1” and they leave without getting tx. – TOO LONG

His day 2 “report of findings” takes him about 1/2 hour.- TOO LONG

He works Monday thru Saturday. – UNNECESSARY

The name of his office is his last name followed by Chiropractic. – DOES NOTHING TO ATTRACT PATIENTS.

His phones are not consistently answered live when his office is closed. – LOSING PATIENTS

He tries to get each patient on what he described as “maintenance care”. — KILLS RETURN VISITS AND REFERRALS

Prior to joining, he had approx. 320 patient emails and was emailing them a once-a-month newsletter. Once a month. – WRONG FORMAT, BAD CONTENT, NOT NEARLY FREQUENT ENOUGH

He treats his patients in an “open area”. – UNPROFESSIONAL AND DEVALUES HIS CARE

By the end of the call, he was looking at his practice with new eyes—from the patients’ perspective, not his.

I told him EXACTLY what to do and he seemed anxious and willing to comply to my recommendations.

If he does, he could be 6 months away from attracting 40+ new patients per month.
