I’m sure you’d agree, nothing beats a referred-in patient.
It’s a sign that you are doing something right.
But if you aren’t getting a lot of referrals, you may not be doing enough things right.
A 100% referral practice is virtually meaningless if it’s getting 3 new patients a month.
Can you make money without referrals? Certainly. There are many offices that spend time and money attracting patients with the goal of “closing” as many as they can.
These types of practices tend to have higher overhead, are less stable, and in my opinion, are responsible for the lion’s share of Chiropractic’s negative image in the marketplace.
How to increase referrals…
- Give patients what they want.
- Be careful not to over-“educate”, -sell, -defend, -convince, etc..
- Don’t over-treat or over-charge.
- Be personal and professional.
- Make sure that your practice name, your business cards, your website, and all your communication is congruent with what patients are already looking for. IN OTHER WORDS (literally), always meet and be with where they are at, not where you want them to go.
- Be okay with letting them go.
- Answer phones live 24-7 or at least 8–8.
- Accept and welcome walk-ins (no appt. needed).
- Accept insurance
- Be accepting
