What I Didn’t Learn in Chiropractic School

Chiropractic School

It’s the place where I began to prepare for the state boards and to learn the skills necessary to deliver a product—a product that has been somewhat agreed to be called “Chiropractic”.

But to become successful in practice, one needs a lot more knowledge than that.

What I learned before Chiropractic School contributed a lot more to my past and current success than any Chiropractic School could.

A result of some luck, and a ton of experiences and observation.

  1. The right parents – Hard working 2nd generation immigrants from Italy and Croatia. One high energy and outgoing, and the other extremely quiet and kind.
  2. I grew up in a middle class environment – No silver spoon. I connected the dots about how clothes appeared in my closet, food arrived on the table, and an annual 10-day vacation became reality: work, planning, saving.
  3. On weekends growing up, we’d visit my living grandparents and the graves of those that weren’t. Every weekend.
  4. I grew up in the Bay Area of Northern California, the East Bay. It was close enough to San Francisco and the experiences that it provides, but far enough away to realize that “here isn’t there”. This made me hungry to move out of Hayward to where the action is.
  5. Private Catholic school where I learned discipline.
  6. I lived near a Lincoln Mercury car dealership – Our family became friends with the owner, Joe Cram. He took me under his wing and while going to local Junior college, I learned the art of selling, the importance of not prejudging prospects, and the real meaning of “no”. Selling cars beat doing plumbing side jobs with my dad. The pay was better if I sold something, and a lot less if I didn’t. It was then that I learned the difference between the “time” and the “results” economy.
  7. Taking the bus to school and riding my bike to work. If I wanted a car, I had to work and save for one…which is what I did. As a result, I didn’t own a car until I was 19. But it was mine. Really mine.
  8. At 19, I financed a limousine and contracted with KPIX Channel 5 in San Francisco to haul their talk show celebrity guests to and from the studio. I became comfortable around celebrities and learned how human they really were. That they weren’t any different or better than me.
  9. I was never really good at one thing. As a result, I had many jobs and interests. More importantly, I become used to and comfortable with change. As s matter of fact, I searched it out.
  10. Luck, experience, and observation created confidence, social skills, work ethic, and the confidence and belief in myself.

…All stuff money can’t buy or be learned in Chiropractic School.

ChiroTrust is also a result of 55 years of luck, experience, and observation… and it’s a pleasure to serve Chiropractors who deserve to be told the truth about what it really takes to succeed.

In some respects, it’s a lot easier than they make it.

Be honest,
Care about people,
Be nice,
Show humility,
Work hard,
and Never quit.

Above all else…

“School is never out for the pro.”
