How To Know If You Are Too Ambitious

H

I wish I knew this 40 years ago…

Ambition isn’t always a good thing.

I’ve been ambitious all my life and have worked hard since the age of 14.

As a result, I have few meaningful memories from between the age of 14 and 45.

All I did was work.

Even today, I love work so much that I hate going to bed at night and can hardly wait to pop out of it and go make things happen.

I’m addicted to momentum and if I’m not careful, all I will do is work.

…and the funny thing is, it’s not about the money. Shoot, I rarely have money on me, I rarely see or touch money, and there isn’t much that I really want material-wise. (Except for a Concept
2 Model D rowing machine that I just ordered this week.)

So here’s how I know if I’m pushing things too fast and/or too hard…

  1. I miss meals or don’t eat right.
  2. I miss workouts or rush my workouts.
  3. I don’t spend time with my parents/family/friends as often as I know that I should.
  4. I forget birthdays.
  5. I become boring to be around.
  6. My bucket list gets longer.
  7. I start spending less time outdoors.
  8. If I can’t accurately answer my series of “Solution Filter Questions™” (I revealed them in Montana and will get them to you too soon).

Bottom line…

Work is good.

Work is necessary.

Before you chase the almighty buck or change the world, make sure you first take good care of you and those whom you love.

…and maybe you’ll amass some meaningful memories along the way.
