Perfect timing…
On this morning’s ChiroTrust member-only call, a member who lives about an hour from me asked this question or something like this…
“I know that you make alone time so that you can think. Can you give me some tips because I have a hard time with knowing how and/or what…?”
So, what did I say?
First off, I asked something like, “When are you taking this time off and where are you going?”
He said something like, “I’m there now…I went to Hawaii”
So in my mind, I’m thinking…
- It’s Friday (an off day)
- He’s in fricken Hawaii
My response…
It’s Friday. It’s your day off. No-work related thinking.
-and-
Dude, you’re in Hawaii…not a place to go to think about work.
Now granted, I can and do take my time alone during the week and you might not be able to but seriously…don’t think about work when you are in Hawaii.
Your weekends are for recharging so that come Monday – Thursday, you CAN think…more clearly, more accurately, and more often.
…and if you are going to use one of your Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays to be alone to think about work, don’t do it while on vacation.
Personally, I go 45 miles away to Napa or 100+ miles away to Pebble Beach and/or Carmel by The Sea.
Bottom line: like every day, the more you think about it the night before, the more productive or relaxing it will be.
Just don’t “work” on Fridays – Sundays.
Okay?
You promise?
Relax. Live in the now and NEVER freak out about anything.
It’s just not productive.
