That’s Right. Do ONLY What You Love
Why do you work? Food, shelter and clothing? To send the kids away to college? To go on vacations, to buy more stuff, to pay the bills? I get it!
But there’s a trap that most entrepreneurs, business people and doctors fall into and that is this:
Make money, spend money, make more money, spend more money…then one day they discover that making money isn’t as easy or fun as it used to be but they still need to work; to pay for the monster they created and the lifestyle that they got accustom to….and THAT’s when you become a slave to your very own life.
Then you say heck with it and to deal with the grind, you justify more vacations, more splurges, more stuff. That’s how you get yourself in trouble.
Well it doesn’t have to be this way.
FIRST…you must STOP work’n! Yep. You heard me right, you MUST stop work’n and start doing ONLY things that you love. Then you won’t feel the urge to do and buy things that create the trap in the first place.
I used to get defensive when friends and family tell me that I work to much…or when my neighbors see me at the coffee shop surrounded by my laptop, notepads, and paperwork.
But once I realized that there aren’t many things that I’d rather be doing, I embraced it and my business exploded!
When you do what you love, you won’t work another day in your life.
I’m still in the same business but I delegate the stuff that others are good at and like to do. I adjusted my work schedule to accommodate my workouts, my diet, my relationships.
What would it take for you to love your work again? Friday’s off? Different work hours? I just interviewed a “Member of the month” who changed his work hours to match his lifestyle: 12-6 pm Mon. and Wed. and 8-1 Tues. and Thur., Fridays off. Good for him!
Think about what you love and do more of that and less of everything else because if you don’t create work that you love, you won’t succeed at it. Maybe make a list of what you love most about your business and what you love least and create a game you love to play. A game you can win.
Life is much more fun when you love what you do. Plus, you are more fun to be around and healthier too! Thanks Ben 🙂
